It took Ray and I awhile before heading to Bouchon together for a meal. I previously went to Bouchon for a bachlorette dinner and wasn't too impressed with the short ribs I ordered. It was after that meal that I realized I am just not a fan of traditional French food, especially French bistro-type food. And as Ray shares my same sentiments, we never made an effort to try Bouchon together.

I have heard alot of good things about the brunch at Bouchon and if you Yelp! "brunch" while in Vegas, Bouchon is the first restaurant that pops up with a gazillion reviews. We decided to give it another shot, this time to try their Sunday brunch menu.

bread
1. epi baguette - my favorite part of the meal - the hot and yummy house baguette

donuts
2. beignets with Nutella and orange marmelade - the highlight of the meal. Thanks to Courtney's heads up about the donuts at the Bouchon Bakery, I was crossing my fingers for donuts on the menu. It was delish! The donut had a crisp cinnamon sugar crust on the outside and a warm, cakey center - paired nicely with the smooth Nutella and tangy marlemlade. Could definitely have ate another plate of these.

waffles
3. Roasted chicken, bacon and chive waffle, Tahitian vanilla bean butter, sauce chasseur - this dished SOUNDED exciting. I think we were both anticipating some version of the Ad Hoc fried chicken. Mixed reviews on this - we both agreed the chicken was roasted to perfection, with moist and juicy meat. However, while I enjoyed the savory bacon and chive waffle (without any syrup), Ray didn't find the syrup and savory waffle combination too yummy.

salmon
4. Rillettes aux Deux Saumons, fresh & smoked salmon rillettes, toasted croĆ»tons - I've heard great things about this rillette. The salmon was done nicely and did not taste too fishy. It was quite tasty with the croutons but too much to eat on my own as an entree. I barely ate half of it. Definitely better shared with the table.

All in all, an okay dining experience. It will definitely be awhile before we head back for any type of meal here. In comparing this with our experiences with Per Se and Ad hoc, Bouchon definitely falls a notch short on the yummy scale.
