50% off coupons are the next best thing to Black Board Eats coupons (which hasn't really offered much lately). So, Ray and I have been taking advantage of the 50% off coupons offered through Yelp!, Zagat and Travelzoo. Most of the coupons are for a set amount (i.e. pay $30 for a $60 certificate) and such was the case for Green Street Restaurant. The great thing about this particular coupon is that you can use MULTIPLE coupons for the same bill, as long as the coupons are from different purchasers. This was the first time I've seen any restaurant allow this (maybe it's a Yelp! coupon thing?). So with two coupons in hand, we took my family to Green Street Restaurant for Sunday brunch.

Green Street Restaurant is an "oldie but goodie" restaurant. It has been in existence since 1979 and I don't think there is anyone in the local area that hasn't been here at least once. I go here for two things: the famous zucchini bread - we bought 5 loaves to go (it's that good!) and the Dianne salad.

Z-bread
1. Zucchini bread - this bread isn't part of the service - you have to order it by the slice or the loaf (pictured above). The bread is moist, with a hint of sweetness and a nice crunch from the walnuts. The zucchini flavor itself is not as prominent as you would think. One complaint I have is that the bread is served cold - it would taste even better if warmed up.

pancakes and eggs
2. Pancakes and Eggs - Two pancakes, two slices of bacon, two eggs, a small glass of orange juice and coffee. If breakfast options are on the menu, then rest assured that's what Ray will order. He opted for the typical breakfast fare of eggs over medium, crisp bacon and really, really big pancakes.

diane salad
3. Dianne salad - tender white, moist chicken, crisp asian noodles, toasted almonds, sesame seeds and crisp, cold shredded lettuce. In other words, a pseudo chinese chicken salad but it was delicious nonetheless. The salad isn't much to look at -it's pretty much a plate of whites and greens. But everything comes together in a nice fresh bite of sweet, crunch and tang. I don't think I can ever get sick of eating this salad. I totally forgot about buying the salad dressing (they have it bottled up for sale) - definitely need to grab some next time.

Overall, a nice brunch with the family. Apparently, that's what everyone else had in mind too and the wait was out the door. I recommend scoring some reservations if you plan on dining here on the weekends for breakfast or lunch. Order the zucchini bread and Dianne salad at the least - you will be a happy camper. I'm just bummed I didn't buy more coupons.
