Now Cooking: Mendo at Home

mendo at home

Thus begins our Mendo at Home cooking adventure.

A peculiar thing happened about a month ago. My friend Chau calls me at work and leaves a cryptic message on my cell phone "Oh my gosh, call me back! I think I have exciting news for you!" That news, as it turns out, was that Mendocino Farms, a local artisan sandwich establishment, was mass-blasting on Facebook and Twitter the following:

Does anyone know the authors behind the I Heart Yummy blog? We love these guys and want to get in touch with them! If you know them...or are them...please send me your email. THANKS!

As Chau had shared in her voice message, it was indeed, exciting news for i heart yummy. Mendocino Farms asked us to partake in a collaboration, of sorts, as their official recipe tester for home cooks. Chef Judy Han, the mastermind behind their wildly popular "Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi", will supply us with her recipes. Our job would be to test the recipes and adjust them to suit the practicalities of a home kitchen and our own taste buds, similar to what we'd done with their LA Times pork belly banh mi recipe. So with the success of our home adaptation and fantastic dining experience at Mendocino Farms, it took us all of two seconds to say "yes!" Collaborating with Chef Judy and the Mendocino Farms team is simply asking for yummy, yummy and more yummy.

The first installment of Mendo at Home will be coming soon:
Butternut Squash Soup and Andrea's Beef Bourguignon Dip
