Nopa
During this last trip to the Bay we grabbed brunch at Nopa, which according to our foodie friend, was one of the more popular restaurants in San Francisco.

Nopa-2
1. Grass-fed Hamburger, pickled onions, blue cheese, herbed fries - Since I am not a big fan of breakfast foods, I opted for their popular grass-fed burger with blue cheese. The bun was the best burger bun I've ever had! Soft, buttery and fluffy but sturdy enough to soak up all the juices from the meat without falling apart. The beef was lean but still juicy and flavorful. However, while good, this burger has nothing on Father's Office, mainly because FO's burger has a nice sweetness from the caramelized onions. Now if only FO can get its hands on this burger bun.....

Nopa-3
2. Custard French Toast, lavender honey glazed strawberries, lemon butter - The french toasted was drenched in butter/cream - swimming in it to be exact. Even though the french toast was pan-fried nicely with a golden crust, all the flavor and texture was lost to the melting butter. Definitely ask for the butter on the side when ordering this dish.

All in all, I don't think we will come back for brunch but the dinner menu looked delicious and worth another trip back, especially to try their famous pork chop. Adding to our mediocre dining experience was the insufferable heat. The weather was unusually warm for San Francisco, about 80 degrees. I don't think Nopa was built to handle such "extreme" SF weather. They seated us in the upstairs dining area that overlooks both the main dining room and the kitchen. Even with the ceilings fans on, it was really warm and stuffy and we were perspiring just sitting there waiting for our food. Yes, dinner at Nopa definitely sounds like the best way to go next time.
