Magnolia 2.0 - I tried a cupcake from here once a couple of years back as an homage to Sex and the City as it was part of the SATC tour we went on (not with Ray of course). Even then, my inexperienced cupcake palate told me this cupcake was not THAT good. It wasn't even GOOD.
Several years and a gazillion cupcakeries later (think Sprinkles, Susiecakes, Dots, Crumbs, Leda's Bakeshop, Portos, Miss Priss Cupcakes, Oinksters, etc), I was hoping my now-experienced cupcake palate would have a different take on Magnolia.
1. coconut classic yellow cake, sweet coconut filling, meringue icing, shredded coconut
2. red velvet cupcake - cocoa, vanilla, whipped vanilla icing
Unfortunately, the verdict is still the same - why this place is so popular, I have absolutely have no idea. The cake was flavorless, the icing was too sweet and was just not worth the calories.
