After hearing that the "famous" LFC or Ludo's Fried Chicken would make an appearance at Akasha during the Top Chef Masters' Viewing Party, we couldn't resist the opportunity to pay Ludo another visit. To my surprise, Akasha Richmond herself called me to confirm the reservation and to let me know that her and Ludo decided to go with a buffet-style menu for the event.
akasha's deviled eggs, salad, corn bread, mac and cheese, collard greens
bacon buttermilk biscuits, cabbage slaw, mashed potatoes, LFC
LFC - ludo's fried chicken
akasha's strawberry-rhubarb cobbler, lemon meringue tart and vanilla pudding pie
Overall, the food was unimpressive and even the trademark LFC was disappointing. The chicken was moist but was too overwhelmingly spiced with thyme. Our favorite item of the night was surprisingly the bacon buttermilk biscuits, which we helped ourselves to seconds. At $38 a person, including tax and gratuity, the meal was not a very good value. Having had his trademark fried chicken and being left uninspired, we will not be back for thirds.
