Milk

To this day, I still haven't figured out exactly how this place got it's name. All I know is that the lines are out the door and around the block, no matter the time of day. Both locals and tourists eagerly wait for their share of Australia Dairy Company's steamed egg and milk custards, fluffy scrambled eggs with white toast and macaroni soup. Luckily, the restaurant follows the popular Chinese way of seating patrons, quickly filling any open seat, even when the table is already partially occupied. This allows for a super quick turnover and despite the long line, about 20 people deep, we were seated within 15-20 minutes.

There are a couple of set menus available throughout the day, for breakfast, afternoon tea time and a fast food set available all day. These sets include different combinations of the eggs, macaroni soup, toasts and beverages. Since we were planning on having dim sum for lunch, we ordered one each of the steamed egg white milk pudding and the steamed egg custard pudding, along with a hot cup of Hong Kong milk tea. The pudding can be served hot or cold (we opted for hot) and tastes like warm flan and creamy creme brûlée. This is a popular dessert in Hong Kong and can be found in many restaurants around the city.

All in all, Australia Dairy Company is a cheap and yummy breakfast option. While not a "must-try," it's a good pit stop if you're looking for a breakfast alternative to dim sum and noodle soups or a mid-afternoon snack.
